Servings

Ingredients for 1

  • 50 ml premium vodka , such as Belvedere or Grey Goose
  • 20 ml Mr Black cold brew coffee liqueur
  • 30 ml freshly pulled espresso , single origin, cooled 2 min
  • 10 ml vanilla sugar syrup
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt , to balance
  • ice cubes , large, dense cubes to shake
  • To serve
  • 3 espresso beans , to garnish

Method

  1. Chill a coupe glass in the freezer well ahead of time.
  2. Pull a fresh single shot of espresso and rest it for 2 minutes so the bitterness mellows.
  3. Add the vodka, Mr Black, espresso, vanilla syrup and a tiny pinch of salt to a shaker packed with ice.
  4. Shake aggressively for 30 seconds until the tin is frosted and the mix is silky.
  5. Double-strain into the frozen coupe through a fine mesh to capture only the finest foam.
  6. Let it settle for 10 seconds so the crema lifts, then float three espresso beans in a neat triangle.
